This elegant manor house was built by the Medici family at the end of the 16th century, for the person (the so called Fontaniere) who had to regulate the flow of the waters which, springing from the Valle delle Fonti di Asciano, flowed to Pisa along the 934 arches of the Medici’s aqueduct. Purchased by the current owners in 2008 after decades of neglect and deterioration, the residence has been perfectly restored, preserving as much as possibile of the original building, thanks also to the supervision of the Superintendency of Pisa.
The complex: If you pass through the elegant wrought iron gate, you will walk along the short driveway with, on the left, the dependance of about 120 m2, with entrance hall, large living room with kitchenette and fireplace, two utility rooms, boiler room, spacious garage and spare room. On the first floor there is a hallway, three bedrooms and bathroom. The dependace enjoys a private garden views over of the olive grove of 3000 sqm with small annex.
The manor house, of approximately 340 square meters, appears in all its splendour, with its cream facade and white windows: from here thepanoramic view extends from the plain of Pisa to the Cathedral and the Leaning Tower. The interiors are rich in architectural elements whose symbolism is closely linked to the theme of water: in the first elegantsitting room there is a niche with marble fountain and a fresco representing the baptism of Jesus. Two specular french doors allow you to reach the internal garden, with a paved courtyard and marble fountain, and the garden facing the facade. The same hand probably painted the image of the Madonna con bambino, which re-emerged during the restoration of the kitchen. On the ground floor you will find also the library with the nearby study, living room with large French window, sitting room with fireplace, large utility room with guest bathroom nearby and wardrobes. From the garden there is also access to some large storage rooms and cellars. An internal staircase leads to the first floor, where there is a central hall characterized by original decorations with shells and a fountain with a marble mask surmounted by the Medici coat of arms: the theme of the water is the protagonist. On this floor there is also a master bedroom with fireplace and en suite bathroom, second bedroom with closet, and nearby bathroom; finally a third and fourth bedroom with bathroom. From the first floor the view is even more incredible, with Piazza dei Miracoli recognizable in the background. On this level, but with independent access from the garden, there is an apartment of about 50 m2, with living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and closet.
The external space is characterized by a manicured garden with large terraces, with a pond , as well as an olive grove of about 3000 square meters . Parking space for two cars.
